Water usage at Austin Convention Center was extraordinarily high from 2017-2018. Total potable water usage was 8,880 kgal, exceeding the expected annual design usage of 580 kgal.

The challenges in comparing projected usage to actual usage was because the projection is only based on building occupancy, and does not account for events. This may contribute to ACC's low water score.

Over 60% of the waste generated at Austin Convention Center was diverted from the landfill to reuse stores, compost, and different recycling companies in Austin.

While Arc's Waste Score is based on building occupancy, square footage and similar buildings of the same type, it does not differentiate between event-generated waste and daily usage waste. Arc also gives a higher weight to generated waste; so while ACC has a high diversion rate, their high waste generation contributes to their relatively low waste score.

7.5/10

Out of 270 Employee Responses
Occupant Satisfaction
The overall human work experience for the employees at Austin Convention Center has been on a positive trend, rising from 6.9 in 2015 to 7.5 currently.
The primary complaint is that air conditioning switched off at night, making it uncomfortable for night shift and security workers.
Volatile Organic Compounds

Every year, the building consultant runs a single survey of the entire building's VOC content, and the highest VOC amount is recorded. Austin Convention Center's VOC content has decreased to a safe range below the LEED maximum standard of 500 ug/m3 since 2016.
CO2 Concentrations
High indoor CO2 concentrations in the air cause a feeling of 'stuffiness', discomfort, shortness of breath, fatigue, drowsiness, and lack of attentiveness.

Austin Convention Center meets the requirements of less than 1000 ppm.
